Daniel Birnbaum (55) was born in New York and lived in Queens until age 7, when his family moved to Israel. He received his BA in Economics at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, followed by an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1992.

After graduation, Daniel began his professional career at Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio, as part of the marketing team of the Crest brand. From P&G, he joined Pillsbury International and in 1995 established Pillsbury Israel and served as its CEO for four years, building Haagen Dazs and Pillsbury into leading brands in their segments in Israel. In 1999 he founded and led Nuvisio Corporation, a technology startup, where he remained until its sale in 2002.  Daniel then served as General Manager of Nike Israel until January 2007.  Under his leadership, Nike Israel gained its leading position in Israel’s sports industry and significantly enhanced its financial performance and brand strength.

Daniel has been the CEO at SodaStream International since 2007, growing the company’s value five-fold, from under $100 million to nearly half a billion dollars today. Daniel is a leading advocate for coexistence and peace in the Middle East, recognized as successfully combating BDS’ global attacks against SodaStream and building bridges between Israelis and Palestinians. He is often asked to speak on these matters and has given testimony to the US Congress and at the United Nations.

Daniel enjoys cooking, outdoor sports such as mountain biking and hiking, is a licensed skipper and serves as a cantor during the Jewish High Holidays at the Adath Israel Congregation in Cincinnati.  He lives in Tel-Mond, Israel with his wife, Bat-Ella who is a performing artist and 4 children: Nitai (19), Nitsan (17) and Shai and Gal (15).
